Sy Schwartz has been a student, teacher, and maker of ceramic art for more than twenty years. Sy's work emphasizes large Raku functionalware and sculptural forms, and teapots that embody gesture, motion, asymmetry and whimsy. These spirited works reflect Sy's love of the process of transforming formless lumps of clay into ceramic art. Sy has been teaching at the UC Davis Craft Center for fifteen years, and assists in the ceramics program at Solano Community College.
